When can ablution and prayer start by taking water into the nose after rhinoplasty?

Is the technique applied in nose surgery important?

Many different techniques can be used while performing rhinoplasty. In fact, every doctor applies the method that feels safest to him. What I will tell in this article is valid for my patients that I have operated on. To be sure, you should ask your doctor what ablution and prayer will begin after rhinoplasty. The information in this article is for advice only.

Making ablution by taking water into the nose

There will be a splint on the nose for the first 7 days after the nose surgery. There will be a silicone bumper inside. Sometimes doctors don’t put tampons. However, in any case, it is not right to take water through the nose for the first 7 days. After the seventh day, the nasal splint and tampon are removed. After the 7th day, including most doctors and me, we allow to take a shower with warm water. However, it is still undesirable to take water from the nose. After 14 days, water can be taken into the nose and ablution can be performed. I allow my patients to take water into the nose starting from the 14th day. Normal tap water can be taken into the nose. Water should be taken very slowly. Again, after taking water into the nose, blowing the nose is NOT done. By simply exhaling, the water in the nose is pushed out with the power of the breath. Closing the nose and blowing the nose can be done after the 6th week of the surgery.

How to prostrate while praying?

In the first 7 days after the nose surgery, it is strictly forbidden to prostrate. Prayer should be done sitting down. Half prostration can be done. But the head does not lean forward completely. After 20 days of surgery, prostration can be done. However, the head is carefully placed in prostration. The prostration is done very slowly. If prostration is performed in the first days after the operation, swelling may occur in the nose. There may also be bleeding and deformity in the nose.
